During the summer high season, passengers are requested to arrange car hire or taxis prior to their arrival to ensure availability. A rental car is a great way to explore the isle and its coastline. There is no rail service from Stornoway Airport.

Bus:

regular public buses are available from Stornoway Airport to Stornoway town, on an hourly basis. From Stornoway town, it is possible to get public buses or coaches to other towns on the Isle of Lewis. In fact, most bus services run to and from Stornoway town.

Bus services run frequently from Monday through Saturday and there is limited service on Sunday. The bus is very reasonable and a great way to explore the isle on a budget. For several rides, it is more cost effective to buy a day pass.

Taxi:

taxis are available from outside the terminal building and trips to Stornoway town are quite inexpensive. Passengers should note that during the peak summer season taxis from the airport should be booked in advance. If there are no taxis outside the terminal, the Information Desk will gladly call one. Car:

Stornoway Airport is located just four miles from Stornoway town. From the airport, take the A866 and then A857, which leads direct to Stornoway town. The route to Stornoway town is well-signposted from the airport. The drive to Stornoway town takes roughly 10 minutes.
